Searching

There are two types of search. The simplest one just lets you look up a word or words:

Type the word or words that you want to find in the text box and then click on the Search button. To just read the Bible, click on the book icon. To come back to this help page at any time, just click on the yellow icon at bottom.

If you want to carry out a more complicated search, click on the double magnifying glass icon at bottom right of the form. This will bring up a form like the one below:

with all of the words These words must be in every verse returned.
with the exact phrase Only verses containing this phrase exactly will be returned by the search.
with at least one of the words These words are optional, but verses containing them will come higher.
without the words These words must not be in every verse returned.
with demutations of If you're unsure of the root word, try entering it here. The search will show this word and any word or words that it finds which might be nonmutated versions of the word you entered.
with mutations of Look for verses containg the word entered and possible mutations of it.
Results Normally a search returns only the first ten matching verses, but you can increase this number here.

Search results are displayed in the format below. The number of verses that were found, if any, is shown first, followed by a table containing matching verses. The book, chapter and verse are shown at left. If you click on this, you will be taken to that point in that chapter. Next comes the Manx text, with matching entries highlighted in green. The English translation of each verse is shown at right.
